Doing The Little Things
By Steve Hurst | August 19, 2009
Did you know that when NASA sent astronauts into space, they discovered that the common ballpoint pen simply would not work in zero gravity?
This discovery resulted in billions of dollars being spent developing a pen that would write in outer space, under water, in temperatures over a hundred degrees, on top of an ice cap mountain, in fact any condition that you could possibly imagine.
And, you can buy these pens today.
However… do you know what the Russians did?
Use a pencil! This demonstrates that we humans have a tendency to over complicate things.
I read this years ago, but just saw it again the other day. It got me thinking how we tend to over complicate things in our businesses. It goes back to the philosophy of “doing the little things.”
It has been my experience that “doing the little things” WILL have a positive effect on your business. So, make that phone call, send that follow up letter or email, mail off that thank you card, etc….start “doing the little things.”
To Your Success,
Steve
